The MHE unit is multidisciplinary. In addition to demography, several disciplines (medicine, epidemiology, statistics, population genetics, economics...) are represented.
The unit’s work aims to describe and understand the health status and mortality of populations. It mainly focuses on the French population as a whole, but international comparisons and studies on specific sub-populations are frequently carried out. The analysis of temporal evolutions and disparities within the population constitute the basis of our work. The unit is also involved in the constitution of large international databases. For all of this work, the unit receives funding from external partners.
Les recherches de l’unité s’articulent autour de trois "Projets phares" et de plusieurs projets portant sur des thématiques plus spécifiques.
The researchers of the unit regularly participate in national and international conferences. They also organize research seminars and exchange days.
The researchers of the unit publish in internationally renowned journals. They also publish books and book chapters.
